Following the arrest of former Barcelona manager president Josep Maria Bartomeu, Barca head coach Ronald Koeman has come out to express his shock. The manager said he is devastated at the arrest of the former president.
Barcelona former president Josep Maria Bartomeu was arrested after an investigation into the club’s financial issues was carried out. Bartomeu was one of the four people that was arrested.
According to reports, police called an investigation into alleged crimes related to property and the socio-economic order and the former president was found guilty of the offence.
Ronald Koeman said: “It’s not good for the image of the club.” Bartomeu and Jaume Masferrer his former adviser spent the night in a police cell in Barcelona.
The club’s chief executive Oscar Grau and legal services director Roman Gomez Ponti were also detained but later released in the day. The investigation is thought to relate to the ‘Barcagate’ scandal in 2020 when the club denied hiring a firm to attack their players.
Ronald Koeman also said he feels bad for them, and he had good moments with them in a short space of time and Bartomeu has always been an exceptional person to him.
