Many retired military officers have demanded from the Federal Government of Nigeria, what rightfully belongs to them after offering several years of service to the nation.
The soldiers started protesting over unpaid pension arrears among other entitlements for the past twenty-four months and have been agitating for a while now without major results.
The retirees that operate under the auspices of the Coalition of Concerned Veterans, CCV, expressed their anger over the failure of the government to meet up with their monthly payments.
The military veterans were seen at the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning Headquarters in Abuja, demanding for their allowances, insisting that f they fail to get the desired response from the government, they’ll continue exercising their rights outside the Ministry
Observations of their activities at the protest ground revealed various placards on the hands of the protesters with different inscriptions written to air their grievances to the government.
Some of the placards read, “CCV demands immediate payment of security debarment allowance.” Another reads, “Military veterans demand 24 months arrears of minimum wage approved.”
