Residents of Yantumaki village in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State have taken to the street to protest the increase in the rate of banditry in the area. They blocked the Kankara-Katsina way while protesting as a result of banditry and other forms of insecurity in Katsina State.
The protesters chanted war songs and set up a bonfire on the roads. That resulted in many motorists getting stick in a huge gridlock and many others turning back.
Reports from the Nation revealed that the cause of the protest was the kidnap of a health worker and his daughters, district head of Yantumaki by men suspected to be bandits. The police on Tuesday morning assured the public that they are handling the situation and that the situation is under control.
The State Police Command confirmed the protest and has instructed the Commissioner of Police Sanusi Buba Sanusi to relocate to the area. More policemen have also been deployed to the area to ensure peace and sanity.
