Reporters were barred from covering Nnamdi Kanu’s court proceedings as this was an alleged order by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, FHC sitting in Abuja, Justice Binta Nyako.
The order was in line with contentious Practice Directions issued to reporters covering the treasonable felony charges against Kanu.
It was reported that the journalists from both national and international media organizations were locked out of the courtroom, even if they were reportedly cleared by the operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, to access the courtroom.
It was also learned that the entrance door was firmly locked against them without any explanation. and many of the journalists and security personnel’s efforts to get the door opened were abortive following an order that the media practitioners be excluded from witnessing or reporting the proceedings.
However, the report revealed that Justice Nyako was billed to deliver a ruling on an objection by Kanu against the 15-count charges by noon.
Still, the door to the courtroom was locked around 11:00 am when the accredited media men had assembled by the door on the 5th floor of the court.
