The management of the University of Abuja, UNIABUJA has called for calm among students of the institution.
In a statement by Dr Habib Yakoob, Head, University Relations, the management appealed to all law-abiding students to not partake in disrupting the 2019/2020 Academic Calendar.
According to the management, the call for calm is because of the amount of time lost to COVID-19 pandemic and the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
The University said it was embarking on all necessary measures aimed at addressing the issues raised by the students regarding their academic programmes.
Some students had earlier on Monday, February 1 blocked the Main Gate of the University, preventing other students and staff from gaining access into the campus.
Everyevery.ng gathered that the students’ demands include, the reopening and extension of school fees payment portal, cancellation of the late registration fee, and postponement of exams till March 8 2021.
President, Students Union Government, SUG, of the institution, Oladeji Adebolawale, who led the protest explained that there is no need for any student to write to anybody in the school before they are allowed to pay school fees.
