Famous Nigerian rapper, Olanrewaju Fasasi, also known as Sound Sultan, is reportedly battling throat cancer in the United States of America.
EveryEvery.ng gathered that Sound Sultan, who is diagnosed with throat cancer, is observing chemotherapy.
Sultan’s career in the entertainment industry started in the 1990s when he hosted shows to raise money for studio sessions and had won numerous local talent-hunt shows by 1999.
The singer released his first single, titled Jagbajantis, in 2000; Kennis Music signed him after independently releasing other singles. Sound Sultan emerged as a UN Ambassador for Peace for his exemplary lifestyle and career in 2012.
Reacting to the report that Sound Sultan battles cancer, some of his fans on social media have solicited financial help and prayers for the talented Nigerian rapper.
@tayoburgenland said, “If anyone had the financial means to get him proper medical care, please let them do. No amount of prayers will heal a throat cancer. If they do, we all, as a people, wouldn’t be in the mess we are today.”
@AlawodeMike, said, “I remember his “Jagbagantis” song that he sang about bad governance; That his song “Motherland ” speaks about not abandoning one’s family despite being abroad.”
Meanwhile, another tweep, @ibilemugabe01, listed the factors that can increase the risk of throat cancer, including tobacco use, smoking and chewing tobacco, excessive alcohol use, and viral infections, including human papillomavirus (HPV) and a diet lacking in fruits and vegetables.
