Manchester United has finally announced Ralf Rangnick as their new interim head coach until the end of the season, subject to work visa requirements. The 63-year-old takes over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked a week ago after a disappointing 4-1 loss to struggling Watford.
Rangnick has left his role as head of sports and development at Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow to take up the job. Speaking on his appointment, the German said: “I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season.”
He “also said: The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience.” “All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.”
“Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis.” After the end of this season, Rangnick will stay on at Old Trafford for an additional two years in a consultancy role.
Ralf Rangnick’s first game in charge of Manchester United in the English Premier League is likely to be against Arsenal, which is on the 2nd of December if his work permit application is received in time. But if the work permit is not received, then temporary manager Michael Carrick who has so far done well in his two games in charge, will remain in charge of the side.
