PSG Declared French Ligue 1 Champions

Paris Saint-German PSG has been declared the French Ligue One 2019/20 champions, they were declared the winners following the unresolved league due to coronavirus. The French authority suspended all sporting activities in the country following the continues rise in the coronavirus pandemic.

Paris Saint-German (PSG) were topping the league with 12 points ahead of second place Marseille with ten more games to go before the coronavirus pandemic caused the suspension of the league. The annoumcement came following the French government’s decision on Tuesday to further extend their lockdown to September.

 A statement was released by the French league president Nathalie Boy de la Tour he said “we have acknowledged the end of the 2019/20 season and we have awarded the league title to PSG.” Paris Saint German (PSG) president Nasser Al-Khelaifi dedicated the title to the health care staff and to all the everyday heroes on the front line whose commitment and self-sacrifice over many weeks have earned our admiration.

Second place Marseille have qualified for the Champions League while third place Rannes will enter the qualifying rounds and fourth place Lille will play the Europa League. At the bottom is Toulouse and Amiens both have been relegated to the league two division while league leaders in the second division Lorient and second place Lens have been promoted to the first division.
