As Liverpool were battling to keep their place in the UEFA Champions League yesterday Wednesday so was Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-German (PSG). Borussia Dortmund were winning already on aggregate but they failed to hold on to their first leg 2-1 victory like Atletico who knocked out defending champions Liverpool.

Coach of Dortmund Thomas Tuchel came with a plan to defend his first leg victory, he had his troops on the front foot from the start of the game. They were in charge of the game in the first 20 minute of the game until Edison Cavani drove in a fine short to which Roman Burki dealt with excellently.

The game was played behind closed doors without fans to watch due to the continuous spread of the coronavirus which has affected sports generally. Brazilian international Neymar Junior opened the scoring for the home side to level scores on aggregate in the first 28 minutes of the game. He scored the goal through a fine dive header. The second goal came in the 45th minutes of the game from Juan Bernat.

They went into the first half with two goals up and leading on aggregate 3-2 it was now a question of if they can hold the victory to the end. Lucky enough they were able to win the German side, they played with France forward Kylian Mbappe, who was said to have a slight illness. They will now face Atletico in the quarter finals hopefully.

Borussia Dortmund’s Emre Can received a red card after two bookings in the last minute of the game to reduce the visitors to 10 men. Dortmund did not lose without a fight as England international Jordan Sancho and Norwegian striker Erling Braut Haaland gave the PSG defence line trouble but Kyelo Navas was there to put all their balls out.
