The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Bauchi State Chapter, has rejected the judgment of the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which dismissed the suit filed by the party’s senatorial candidate for the Bauchi Central District, Honourable Baffa Aliyu Misau.
The verdict brought to an end the six-month legal battle embarked upon by the party’s senatorial candidate seeking to upturn the declaration of Honourable Halliru Dauda Jika of APC as the winner of the February 23 senatorial election.
Vowing to seek redress at the Appeal Court, the PRP described the judgment as “unfair, and a clear diversion of justice.”
The party disclosed this through its Bauchi State chairman, Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi when the State Executive Committee Members of the party paid a solidarity visit to the party’s senatorial candidate at his residence in Bauchi.
Shehu Barau described the senatorial candidate as “one of the party’s loyal and committed members that merit any support and sacrifice.”
Responding to the party’s stance and solidarity visit, the party’s senatorial candidate for Bauchi Central District, Honourable Baffa Aliyu Misau, expressed his immense delight and commended the party’s leadership for the uncommon gesture, resilience and steadfastness.
He said, “On most occasions, parties abandon their candidates as long as they fail elections, but the PRP proved to be unique and different from others as it stood with me and pledged to continue giving its support to ensure my stolen mandate is restored.”
“Today has become my happiest day throughout my political life because of this momentous visit and the party’s move has given me more hope and courage to carry on the battle until we see the end of it and get justice,” he said.
He added that he is ready to continue working indefatigably for the progress and development of the party at all levels.
Baffa Aliyu finally used the occasion to reaffirm his loyalty to the party and its lofty manifestoes.
