Days have passed and I couldn’t reach Funke still. I tried searching for her on Facebook. I’ve tried her name on the social media platform using different prefixes and suffixes such as Funke Williams, Olufunke Williams, to Williams Oluwafunke but couldn’t get a good result. Perhaps she must have used names such as ‘Cocoberry Shantel’; who knows because I don’t believe she’ll be missing on this app. I was very disturbed just to relate my side of the story of the occurrence at the restaurant.
In the quest of looking for Funke, I made it a point of duty to visit the shopping mall where we met few weeks ago maybe I’d be lucky to see her again.
“I’ve seen my future with Funke, that shouldn’t be a mere picture in HD, I must go all the length to see her as soon as possible’ I said to myself. ‘’do you remember me? I met a lady here few weeks ago. After shopping, I paid for her expenses and also left the five hundred naira change for you to spend’’.
I took a step forward on a black Friday at the shopping mall. ‘’is that the new tactics you use for scamming people Mr. Man’’ the sales rep I spoke with replied at the top of her voice. I was embarrassed and felt like vanishing from that spot. I wouldn’t lie, I left in shame.
Settling down hasn’t been on my mind but with Funke it seems I’ve got to my bus stop. ‘I don’t really know what has happened to me since we crossed path. She wouldn’t have come to that shopping mall with a love potion or jazz when she didn’t plan to see me. It’s that how people feel when they are in love?’ I couldn’t stop wondering. I wasn’t myself again as I mentioned Funke even in my place of work every now and then as a track on repeat.
When my constant visit to the bukateria landed me in the hospital, I was diagnosed with typhoid fever and had to take drips to get back on my feet. A day after I was discharged and got home, my cousin who came around to help me answered to a knock on the door.
‘Hey good evening’ is all I heard from Bisi. When I asked her who was at the door, she said a lady came by only to turn back without a word when she saw her.
“She rocked dreadlocks and has a good physique’’ “Oh my God! That’s Funke’’ I screamed. She must have thought I’ve replaced her with another lady.
Immediately, I got the acceleration of a certain Usain Bolt but at the end, it doesn’t count as she disappeared once again. Should I say my pretty cousin is the devil here or has Funke got a deadly trust issues syndrome?
