President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Nigeria from Dubai a day ahead of his scheduled return.
He was initially scheduled to arrive at Abuja from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates by about 1:30pm Wednesday.
However, The President, his aides and some members of his entourage arrived via the Presidential aircraft. It landed at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at about 10.45p.m.
The News Agency of Nigeria weighed in on President Buhari’s decision to return so abruptly by cutting short his official engagements in Dubai. They noted it might be connected with security developments in Zamfara, Kaduna and some other parts of the country.
The President had departed Abuja on April 4 for Amman to honour an invitation by King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan to participate in the World Economic Forum.
He delivered an address at the opening of the plenary. This was alongside King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein and United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres.
The president, who on Sunday moved to Dubai, participated in the ninth edition of the Annual Investment Meeting.
According to NAN, President Buhari also held bilateral talks and met with different groups of investors at the sidelines of the Annual Investment Meeting.
