The presidency has released a press statement to announce the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to reconstitutes the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
In a statement made available on its verified Twitter on May 30, the Presidency said President Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the NNPC Board.
According to the tweet, the reconstitution followed the expiration of the term of the board members appointed in 2016.
The Members of the new Board are Mohammed Lawal from the North West, Tajudeen Umar from North East and Adamu Mahmood Attah from North Central.
Others are Senator Magnus Abe from South-South, Dr Stephen Dike from South East, and Chief Pius Akinyelure from South West.
Meanwhile, the NNPC Group Managing Director, Mallam Melle Kyari has expressed shock over the sudden death of Dr Maikanti Baru who was the 18th Group Managing Director of the Corporation.
Mallam Kyari described him as a man of exemplary character and disposition.
Dr Baru, who was at the helm of the Corporation from July 4th 2016 to July 7th 2019 died after a brief illness in an Abuja hospital at the age of sixty years.
