President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the Political Crisis In Mali.

Reacting to the recent happenings in the country, President Buhari in a tweet described the events in Mali as a great setback for regional diplomacy, with grave consequences for the peace and security of West Africa.

According to the President, it is time for the unconstitutional authority in Mali to act responsibly and ensure restoration of constitutional order, peace and stability.

He further stated that Nigeria strongly supports the efforts of ECOWAS Chairman, President Mahamadou Issoufou, for wider regional and continental consultations with the organization, the African Union, AU and the United Nations.

President Buhari also threw his weight behind the adoption of strong measures to bring a speedy resolution to the situation.

He stressed that a politically stable Mali is paramount and crucial to the stability of the sub-region.

However, President Buhari, who recently received briefings from ex-president Goodluck Jonathan on the happening in Mali called for collaboration with the ECOWAS, the AU, the UN and other stakeholders to restore sanity in Mali.
