President Buhari Mourns Maikanti Baru
President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with family, friends and professional colleagues of former Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Kachalla Baru.
The Special Assistant to President Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmad confirmed this in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Saturday, May 30.
The current Group managing director of the agency, Mallam Melle Kyari confirmed that Baru, who was the 18th Managing Director of the NNPC died on Friday after a brief illness at the age of sixty years.
In a post on his verified Twitter handle, Mallam Kyari described late Maikanti as a mentor with an exemplary character and disposition.
However, he prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and Mercy for him.
Also, the group public Affairs divisio wen of the NNPC, Dr Jennie Obateru has also confirmed the death of Maikanti, who was at the helm of the Corporation from July 4th 2016 to July 7th 2019.
