President Buhari Condoles With Adamu Adamu Over Loss of Mother

President Muhammadu Buhari has sympathised with the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu over the demise of his mother, Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Adamu Gamawa.

This was made known on Sunday evening in a statement signed by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.

According to the President, “I am sad to know about the demise of Hajiya Fatima. My condolences to the family, government and people of Bauchi State. May her soul rest in peace.”

Adamu’s late 106-year-old-mother fondly called “Baaba,” was laid to rest in Katagum last Friday. She descended from the family of Wakilin Makaman Katagum, and was married to the late Katukan Katagum, Adamu’s father.

Mallam Adamu Adamu, the current Minister of Education, is a 64-year old indigene of Bauchi State, having been born in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of the state on 25 May 1956.

He was appointed Minister of Education by President Muhammadu Buhari on November 2015, along with 35 others, when the president made his first major appointments.

Prior to his appointment as the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu had worked as the Secretary of Muhammadu Buhari’s Transition Committee.

Also before his appointment, Adamu wrote back page column for Media Trust’s titles and often syndicated by many news outlets including London-based Crescent International.
