Arsenal continued their impressive Europa League form as they thrashed Austrian side Rapid Wien at the Emirates stadium 4-1 last night. Mikel Arteta and his team have not been doing well in the English Premier League but their Europa League form is a perfect one. They have not lost any of their Europa League game this season.
Arsenal did well to impress the fans who are now allowed to watch games in the stadium. A total of 2000 fans were allowed into the stadium for the first time since March 2020. The home side was thoroughly dominant from the start of the game till the very end. Skipper Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes of the game as he took the keeper off guard with a powerful shot for his fourth goal of the season.
The second goal came just eight minutes later and Arsenal doubled their lead with Pablo Mari on target. The young lad scored in his first appearance since June after meeting Reiss Nelson’s corner with a clever header. The Gunnars team missed some couple of good chances with Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe looking dangerous throughout the first half.
They made the scores three through Eddie Nketiah goal. Rapid Wien was second best for large parts of the game but made a positive start in the second half as Koya Kitagawa volleyed home to make it 3-1 just three minutes after the restart. The goal seems to to be a come-back for the home team but it was not as Maitland-Niles added the fourth. Arsenal was too classy for Rapid Wien as they won their fifth straight game in Group B.
