Popular Broadcaster & Actor is Dead

Popular Nigerian broadcaster and Nollywood actor, Sadiq Abubakar Daba, known simply as Sadiq Daba has reportedly died on Wednesday, March 3.

According to NTA2 Lagos Network Centre, he died Wednesday, 3rd of February around 8:30 pm after battling for leukemia and cancer for years.

The popular broadcaster finally gave up the ghost at the Ayinka General hospital, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The veteran actor was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia and later prostate cancer for which he underwent several treatments.

Sadiq Daba has worked as a broadcaster for the Nigerian Television Authority. His acting career came to prominence in the late 1970s, starring in Cockcrow at Dawn.

The veteran has featured in several Nollywood movies among which is Kunle Afolayan’s ‘October 1st‘ and ‘Citation‘ movies.

Sadiq Daba won African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as ‘Inspector Waziri’ in ‘October 1’.

He also played the role of a University lecturer in the ‘Citation’ movie released in 2020.
