Police To Deploy 5,000 Officers For Ondo Council Poll

Ahead of the Ondo Council Poll slated for Saturday, August 22, the Ondo State police command said it has deployed 5,000 policemen for the poll.

The Ondo state Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami, who disclosed this stated that 5,000 cops had been deployed to ensure the security of lives and property in all the 18 local government areas of the state.

The CP opined the Com­mand’s preparedness for the election adding that other security agencies including the Nigeria Security and Civil De­fense Corps and the Department of State Services would collectively pro­vide security during the exercise.

Sa­lami charged all partic­ipants in the election to adhere to the rules of the game as he further warned political thugs to stay off vio­lence before, during and after the polls.

However, he revealed that the Po­lice had concluded ar­rangement to deploy more men to the state for the October 10 governorship election.

According to him, the men would be drawn from Edo, Osun, Ogun and Ekiti states for the peaceful conduct of the poll.
