Police Threatens EndSARS Memorial Protesters

The second-year memorial of the EndSARS protest, held in different parts of the country on Thursday, has seen the Nigerian police threaten to stop any protester at the Lekki Toll Plaza.

The memorial procession, announced by Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has seen youths in Lagos come out in troops to honour the memory of the slain youth at the Lekki shootings of 2020.

The police have said as long as the protesters do not stop for any activity at the toll plaza, there would not be a problem because the agreement was that they do not stop but keep moving.

“The moment anybody stops, that person will be picked up and locked up in the van,” an unnamed Police officer threatens.

Heavy police presence has since been observed on Thursday morning, while tear gas has been shot at protesters passing by.
