A female Police officer has reportedly shot a former Presidential Candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
EveryEvery.ng gathered that Sowore was shot at the Unity Fountain in Abuja. He reportedly sustained an injury from the shot and has been rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.
A human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, who confirmed the development via Twitter, said the officer is said to be an ACP. Effiong opined that the Nigerian government had declared war on the civic space.

The human rights lawyer further identified the officer who shot Sowore as CSP Atine. Effiong accused the officer of firing a tear gas canister directly at Sowore. He said such an act is a criminal offence under the Anti-Torture Act of 2017.
Reacting to the development, former Senator Shehu Sani described the shooting as unfortunate.
