Police Shoot, Kills 16-Year-Old Girl in Lagos

A trigger-happy police officer shot and killed a 16-year-old girl in Lagos State. As reported on twitter, the girl identified as Tina was shot dead by a policeman around the Iyana Oworo axis of Lagos. According to the reporter, she has now been confirmed dead and handed over to her family. The handle @mohammedblack seized the opportunity to draw the attention of popular human rights activist, Segun Awosanya who is also known as @segalink on twitter, to the incident.

While praying for the girl’s family to find the strength to bear the loss, Mohammed Black reminded the public to be aware of police brutality ravaging our communities. He urged all necessary parties to pay attention to this issue and make sure justice is served accordingly.

The Nigeria Police Force should endeavor to avoid situations like this so as to restore hope to the citizens. Mohammed Black reminded the Police Force that the public will no longer sit back and watch them brutalize them. According to him, the government has the only two parts, the people who serve and the ones left to be served. He pointed out that in a dysfunctional system like Nigeria, those who are to be served are left at the mercy of those who are to serve for them to stumble upon.

The Police man who shot the girl has been arrested and will face the full wrath of the law after full investigations.
