EdoState Police Command has revealed plans on how they intend to secure the release of an abducted Divisional Police Officer, DPO, kidnapped in the state.

The DPO, Ibrahim Ishaq, stationed in Fugar Division in Etsako Central local government area of Edo state, was kidnapped along the Auchi – Ekperi-Agenebode road axis for about a week now.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Bello Kontongs, who briefed reporters on the latest development regarding the case, noted that the unit is working on some modalities to help the DPO regain freedom unharmed.

He informed that the senior officer was whisked away at around 6.20 pm, travelling in the company of his orderly, one Sergeant Aliu, along the route mentioned above in the state.

It was learnt that the officers were off duty when the abductors suddenly attacked and managed to grab only the DPO, while his orderly, Sergeant Aliu, managed to escape and immediately reported the incident at the nearest police station.

He said money has been demanded from the family of the abducted. However, the spokesperson hinted that they are yet to inform the of this development.
