Hushpuppi and Kyari
In reaction to the allegations levelled against highly decorated Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, the Police Service Commission has hinted at the possibilities of sacking the super cop.
Austin Braimoh, the spokesperson for the Police Service Commission, disclosed the punishment police officers could face if found guilty of wrongdoings.
According to Braimoh, an outright dismissal is one of the penalties that the police authorities could impose on Kyari if he is found guilty of the allegations against him.
Braimoh added that the punishment for police officers who have committed infractions includes a warning, reprimand, severe reprimand, reduction in rank, and outright dismissal.
Meanwhile, he noted that it would be wrong to conclude that DCP Kyari is guilty of allegations against him without a thorough investigation.
He opined that Kyari’s indictment by the US court needs to be subjected to the Nigerian laws first to verify if the police officer is guilty of the allegations against him.
You will recall that the police authorities recently suspended Kyari following his indictment by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, for his alleged role in the $1.1million fraud by Ramon Abass, also known as Hushipuppi.
In the meantime, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has denied visiting Kyari. The Governor said he does not know Kyari’s residence. Zulum’s reaction follows viral claims that he and former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, visited Kyari at his residence.
