Police have revealed that one of its men, who was seen harassing a student over his ownership of an iPhone has been apprehended.
They also mentioned that a trial has commenced and the preceding will bring out appropriate disciplinary action on him.
“The Force wishes to state that such behavioural pattern is not a true reflection of Nigeria Police Force especially under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP MA Adamu.”
According to a statement sent out on their official Twitter handle, the Delta State Command confirmed the arrest of the sergeant.
The statement read, “The commissioner of Police Delta State Command has confirmed that the police SGT reported to have harrassed and embarrassed an innocent student is now in police custody.”
In the video, the policeman questioned the male occupants of the vehicle who are believed to be students. He asked one of the students how much his phone was and the student replied that it costs N200,000.The angry sergeant complained that in his over 14 years on the job, he had not been able to afford a phone of over N15,000 and then accused the student of being a fraudster who uses female panties to do juju.He asks the student to take his belongings from the bus as he would not be allowed to continue on the journey with other passengers.
The cop subsequently asked the student to open his phone so that he can inspect its contents.
As the young man dilly-dallied, the policeman hit him repeatedly in the back and smashed the phone against the ground.
