Burning 10 year old
The officers of the Egbado Police Division in Ogun State have arrested a 24-year-old man, identified as Badmus Folarin for burning 10 year old boy, Sunday David on his buttocks with a hot knife and inflicting second degree burns on him
According to the reports, the suspect burned the little boy for licking beverage from his(Badmus) mother’s tin.
The arrest was made following a distress call from a neighbour on Elegushi street in Owode-Yewa, Yewa South Local Government area of Ogun state which is where their home is located.
Abimbola Oyeyemi , the spokesperson of the state Police Command released a statement confirming the incident. According to him,“The suspect was arrested following distress call received by the DPO Owode Egbado division, Olabisi Elebutte, from a concerned neighbour”
Oyeyemi said that the sorrowful cry of the young boy and when the patrol team got to the scene, they saw Sunday lying helplessly with serious injuries all over his body.
He continued ,
“On enquiry, it was discovered that the suspect put a knife on fire and when the knife was red hot, he applied it to the buttocks of the boy, thereby inflicting second degree injuries on the innocent boy.During interrogation, the suspect alleged that the vicim, who is living with the family opened a tin of Milo tea belonging to the suspect’s other and licked from it”
David was immediately rushed to the hospital and is currently receiving medical care while the suspect was detained.
In response to the incident, Kenneth Ebrimson, the state Commissioner of Police has ordered that the case be transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigations.
