In what has now become one of the most talked about celebrity confrontations of the week, social critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan VDM, has issued a public apology following a physical altercation with media personality Freedom Atsepoyi, better known as Mr Jollof, aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight on November 17.

The heated clash between the two online rivals, whose long running feud has spilled across multiple social media platforms and even into the courtroom, reportedly escalated into an exchange of blows mid flight, leaving passengers stunned and causing delays.

In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, VDM addressed the incident head on, admitting that the fight was not supposed to happen and expressing regret for the disruption it caused.

“I would really like to apologise for what happened yesterday on the United Nigerian Airlines,” he said. “What happened yesterday was not supposed to happen, and I will take full responsibility for it.”

He extended his apology to all the mothers, all the daddies, all the uncles, all the younger ones, as well as to the pilot and flight crew who were affected by the commotion.

VDM noted that the brawl inconvenienced several passengers who had pressing commitments.

“A lot of people on that flight had important things to do, but because of that little irresponsibility from my end, their flight was delayed,” he said. “Some people might have had medical emergencies, and some had business contracts to sign. I don’t know what that little delay would have cost them, and I really want to apologise.”

Reflecting further, he admitted he was disappointed in his conduct, even though some online spectators considered the incident amusing.

“Looking back at what happened yesterday, I really didn’t like that part,” he said. “Even though some people saw everything as a cruise on social media, I acted irresponsibly.”

Despite the apology, VDM did not rule out future confrontations with Mr Jollof, hinting that their long standing animosity remains unresolved.

“I cannot guarantee that it will not happen again,” he stated. “I can only guarantee that it will not happen on the plane, on the bus or in a public place that will stop people from going to their destination. But I am really, really sorry for yesterday.”

The incident has reignited conversations about public conduct, celebrity rivalries and the growing trend of online feuds spilling into real life, a moment passengers on that flight are unlikely to forget.
