PHASE 4: MARVEL’S SHANG-CHI RUMOURED TO BE FILMING IN AUSTRAILIA

With Avengers End Game looking to serve as an ending to the phase 3 of the MCU, we’ve already seen the first trailer for Spiderman: Far from home which is the first Phase 4 film. Now Sydney Morning Herald has reported that another Phase 4 MCU film, Shangchi is under production in Australia.

Shang-Chi is a fictional character, often referred to as the “Master of Kung Fu”, he first appeared in 1973 special Marvel edition #15 the American comic book published by Marvel Comics. He started out as a regular kungfu master will countless unarmed fighting skills. He also mastered the use of a nunchaku. However, in his later years, he gained superpowers after the exposure to cosmic radiation(as usual) which gave him the ability to created infinite copies of himself.

 The character was created in the 70’s by writer Steve Englehart and artist Jim Starlin.

So far, the movie has secured Destin Daniel cretton.  to direct the film and Dave Callaham as the screen writer. Cretton was shot into the limelight with for his outstanding directing in the movie ” Short term 12″ in 2013. Moreover, he is already slated to direct the upcoming biographical drama starring Michael B. Jordan and Brie Larson set for a 2020 release.

Shangchi is going to be the first ever Marvel movie with an Asian lead. Just like other movies that s made history with Black Panther and Captain. First Black lead and first female lead in a Marvel film respectively.

As you may recall, the last time Marvel studios shot in Austrailia, was in 2017 during the production of Thor: Ragnarok. Now, Marvel studio’s would be going back to Austrailia. Although, According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Federal Arts Minister Mitch Fifield has confirmed that an unnamed Marvel movie is being filmed in the country. However, all the details makes us believe it is Shangchi.
