There’s the possibility that Petrol Tanker Drivers may embark on strike as this action, if it eventually happens, would worsen the already existing fuel scarcity witnessed in mainly Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

The lamentations of the drivers is coming from the backdrop of bad roads around various supply routes in the country that is increasing the tendency of enduring more dire consequences from the scarcity being experienced.

Already, both the Lagos and Abuja residents are falling victims of those selling bad fuel that have ben damaging car engines and causing other major problems as well.

However, some of the drivers alleged that those in authorities have started stealing from the N621billion Road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme, put in place to fix about twenty-one roads capable of boosting economic activities.

Airing these views on their behalf is the National Chairman, Comrade Salmon Akanni. He said this while engaging journalists in Abuja yesterday, where he mentioned that their Association is likely to embark on strike if the Nigerian Government does not rehabilitate the roads.

Comrade Akanni recalled that the end of the quarterly Branch Executive Council meeting of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers at PTD House, Emene, Enugu on the 25th of September 2021, the Union issued a firm and decisive ultimatum on the deplorable state of the federal highways and the painful experiences of members while carrying out their duties across the country.
