Peter Osaze Odemwingie who retired from active football about a year ago, has declared his interest in professional golfing. Former Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion attacker is now a professional golfer.
Peter Odemwingie was born on the 15th of July 1981 in the capital city of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. Osaze started with Bendel Insurance of Nigeria in the Nigeria professional football league NPFL. After three seasons with Bendel Insurance F.C he moved to Europe. Osaze signed for Belgian side La Louviere, where he won the Belgium Cup once before moving to France.
The Nigerian also played for Lille, where he scored 23 goals in 75 appearances. After three seasons, he moved to Russia. Odemwingie signed for Lokomotiv Moscow playing 75 matches and scoring 21 goals. He signed for the English Premier League side West Brown which he signed for in 2010. He scored 30 goals for the English side and also won the EPL Player of the month severally.
Odemwingie represented Nigeria in two different World Cups (2010 and 2014) South Africa and Brazil. Where he scored eleven goals for Nigeria and ended his career with Madura United where he scored 15 goals in 22 games. He retired from active football in April. In all he scored a total of 125 goals in total for clubs in all 412 appearances.
After 15 years of active football, the attacker returned to be a professional golf player. Osaze came out on Monday to say he is now a Professional golf player. He, however, had spent some years as an amateur player and he was extremely excited.
“I am very proud to become a member of this great association (PGA),” he said.
“Congratulations, as of today your registration with the PGA has been accepted. He studied at the University of Birmingham Foundation. With a degree in Professional, Golf Studies has been allocated to you
“Your amateur status has now been relinquished and you are now officially classified as a PGA Assistant Professional.” The statement read.
The 38-year-old was proud and could hold himself. He took to social media to announce his membership to the Professional Golfers Association (PGA). We wish him much luck in his new field of sport.
