Peter Obi Wins Labour Party Presidential Ticket

Peter Obi, an ex-Anambra State Governor, and newly-welcomed member of the Labour Party has emerged victorious and has been declared the presidential candidate of the Party.

Mr. Obi will be carrying the party’s flag come 2023 General Elections as his emergence as the party’s flag-bearer follows his winning at the presidential primary of the LabourParty.

On Monday 30, 2022, the party conducted the primary for its presidential ticket on Monday in Asaba, Delta State capital, with a total of 185 delegates that had been accredited to vote in the exercise to elect one of four aspirants seeking to clinch the party’s presidential ticket.

Obi later won the contest following his emergence as the sole contestant, after his three co-contenders announced their decision to step down for him.

Presidential Aspirants that Stepped Down for Peter Obi

The other presidential aspirants who stepped down were a political economist and management expert, Professor Pat Utomi, Olubusola Emmanuel-Tella, and Faduri Joseph.

He got the victory barely a week after he announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as well as his withdrawal from the primary election of the main opposition party.
