Members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners have threatened to embark on a nationwide protest over what it described as the government’s failure to approve their demands as stipulated in the constitution.
The President of the Union, Abel Afolayan, said members of the union agreed to give the Federal Government a 21-day ultimatum.
Afolayan, who quoted the 1999 constitution, sections 173(3) and 210 (3), called on the Nigerian government to implement the Consequential adjustment of pensions.
The pensioners said they are still waiting for the approval of their consequential adjustment of monthly pensions two years after implementing the N30,000 national minimum wage.
