Spanish La Liga side Real Betis have appointed former Manchester City and West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini as their manager for next season. The former City coach Pellegrini is back to the La Liga, he has managed Real Madrid, Villareal and Malaga in the Spanish top flight before moving to the English Premier League.
The former Manchester City and Real Madrid coach was sacked by West Ham in December and former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes appointed as the new coach. The 66-year-old Chilean’s deal with Betis runs until June 2023. When Pellegrini was with City he won the 2013-14 Premier League title and two EFL Cups during his three years for them.
According to reports in a statement sent via Seville club website, it states: “Real Betis have appointed a coach of a high level and big international prestige to elevate the performance of the first team in a three-year project.” He will succeed Rubi, who was sacked on the 21st of July after their loss to Athletic Bilbao.
Sports director Alexis Trujillo will be in charge for the rest of this season before the new manager will take charge in the 2020/21 La Liga season.
