Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Citadel Global Community Church has thrown his support behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government’s resolve to regulate social media.
Earlier on Monday, November 2, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, stated categorically that the government could have shut down all of social media during the recent campaigns, but decided not to.
Pastor Bakare, speaking on Arise TV, said there is need for the government to regulate the media so as to ensure that posts by individuals only promote the nation.
Recalling recent killings of Nigerians at the Lekki Toll Gate during the #EndSARS protest, Pastor Bakare urged the incumbent government to apologize to Nigerians and ensure justice is served to the affected persons and their immediate families.
He, however, blamed protesters on what he termed ‘discomfort’ during the protest as a result of the blocked roads and for the apparent lack of leadership, and refusal to negotiate with the government.
He again urged the Buhari’s administration to take responsibility for the killings and do the needful to the affected persons.
