Pandemonium in Ondo As Coronavirus Patient Was Erroneously Discharged

Numerous doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo will be placed on isolation for having contact with Coronavirus patient in the hospital. It was reported that the female patient who was admitted in the hospital was mistakenly discharged on Sunday by the doctors in the hospital before her result came out.

The sad development, which caused pandemonium and apprehension in the hospital and Owo town of Ondo State, has been confirmed on Monday by the chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association in the state, Dr Wale Oke.

Dr One said, “We received sad news of one Covid 19 patient who was seen in MTOC from Friday to Sunday at FMC Owo. What happened was a communication gap. Other patients results that was sent except that of the patient which was not ready as at that morning came back negative but erroneously put that all FMC Owo patients were negative. By the time the result of this woman was communicated later in the evening which was positive, she has been discharged.

“I want us to remain calm as contact tracing have commenced and efforts are on the way to locate the patient and bring her back.

“Please let’s insist on PPE before seen any patient since we are now dealing with community spread.

“To all that saw the patient right from Ijebu Owo down to FMC Owo, we are with you.” He stated.
