Oyo Deputy Governor Denies Alleged Rift With Makinde

Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, has denied rumours making the round that there is a rift between him and the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

Olaniyan, who described the relationship between him and the Governor as cordial added that he has chosen to disregard all those who want to cause rancour between them.

The Deputy Governor made this known at his residence when some journalists visited him for Ei-Fitr celebration.

He further spoke on achievements of the Makinde-led administration which would be a year in a few days.

The Oyo Deputy Governor noted that there is no need to trade words with those who don’t believe in the achievements recorded so far by the administration of Governor Makinde.

He opined that various innovations and efforts in the area of education, agriculture, infrastructure and health among others would have been more obvious to see if not for the Coronavirus pandemic.

“For the one year in office, if the APC says we are not doing anything, fine. Let it be. The Yoruba has a saying that you can never impress your haters.

When you are trying to reset an already battered economy, battered administration and everything battered, when you are trying to reset, it is not just as you get there that you start the movement.

If I start planning on education now before you can see the effect, it might take sometimes.”

Olaniyan further stressed that the critics of the Makinde administration would have to keep waiting till they see what the government has achieved within the months spent in the office.

According to him, the Seyi Makinde-led administration will continue to implement policies that would have positive impacts on the lives of the people of Oyo State.
