A doctor says former Malian president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has been hospitalized after suffering a mini-stroke.

The doctor, who described the mini-stroke as an alert stated that he is recovering well at the moment.

He added that 75-year-old Keita who has not been seen in public since he was ousted on August 18 was admitted to a private clinic in the capital Bamako on Tuesday.

Also, an aide to Keita said the former president had been admitted to the clinic for a routine checkup.

Meanwhile, thorough analysis shows that the ousted president was the victim of a transient ischaemic attack.

You will recall that the president was ousted by young military officers who mutinied at a base near Bamako before heading into the city, where they seized Keita after which he later announced on national TV that he was stepping down.
