France and Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele have been confirmed to miss the rest of Euro 2020 after suffering a knee injury in the 1-1 draw with Hungary. Dembele entered in the second half of the game to replace Karim Benzema, but after 30 minutes into the game, he sustained an injury and was pulled out.
French Football Federation (FFF) released a statement saying: “Ousmane Dembele had an X-ray at the Budapest hospital on Sunday night.” “The recovery time is incompatible with him staying in the squad.” The world champions France will play holders Portugal in their last group on Wednesday.
France head coach Didier Deschamps will have to use another player in the Group F clash against Portugal as it is a must-win for them. They are topping the group with four points after two games, one ahead of second-placed Germany and third-placed Portugal.
In the absence of Ousmane Dembele, Deschamps still has other attacking options on the bench. The likes of Antoine Griezmann, Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe, Olivier Giroud, Kingsley Coman and Wissam Ben Yedder are all an option in the attack line for the Barcelona player.
