Osinbajo Warns About Possible Break-Up In Nigeria

Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has warned that the country may break up if the necessary measures are not put in place to address the existing cracks. Osinbajo gave the warning on Sunday, September 27 while speaking during a church service in commemoration of Nigeria’s 60th Independence anniversary.

Osinbajo, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said focus and prayers are the tools to defeat any possible efforts that may arise in the course of mending the cracks in Nigeria.

He said though the walls in Nigeria are not yet broken, there are apparent cracks that could lead to a break if not adequately addressed.

Osinbajo stated that the walls signify peace, security, contentment and prosperity which represents the essence of the state of the nation.

Referring to the biblical story of how Nehemiah championed the rebuilding of the broken walls of Jerusalem, Osinbajo said the story should be a challenge to every Christian in Nigeria adding that the cracks in the country can be mended by the kind of love displayed by Nehemiah.

According to him, Nehemiah should be taken as a metaphor for those Nigerians who either reside in Nigeria or outside the country. However, he said any Nigerian that desires to rebuild Nigeria must also be ready to face stiffer opposition which will come in torrents.

You will recall that Nobel Laurette, Professor Wole Soyinka has earlier warned that the country is on the edge of total collapse. In a statement issued by Soyinka, he stated that the Federal Government’s tactics of aggressively denying that Buhari’s policies and conduct were responsible for the happenings in the country would lead to collective suicide.

He said Nigeria is close to extinction as viable comity of people that are supposedly bound together under an equitable set of protocols of co-habitation devoid of a culture of sectarian privilege and will to dominate.

Everyevery.ng reported that Soyinka said former President Olusegun Obasanjo correctly read the state of Nigeria before stating that the nation is more divided under President Muhammadu Buhari (read more here).
