While addressing newsmen at the airport, Kalu expressed gratitude to God for the prevailing peace in Nigeria adding that he felt well being home after his release from unlawful incarceration.

He said the people of Abia North did not miss anything despite his absence, noting that all that were supposed to be done were represented in the budget.

You will recall that Kalu was jailed for twelve years on Dec. 5 over alleged 7.1 billion naira fraud, while serving as Abia governor between 1999 to 2007.

However, the Supreme Court in a unanimous decision on May 8, nullified the trial and conviction of Kalu by Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

According to the apex court, Idris lacked the jurisdiction to try the matter, having been elevated to the Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile, in a tweet, Kalu thanked a member of the Abia State House of Assembly, Honourable Chijioke Chukwu, who led other members of the State House of Assembly to be present during his arrival at the Sam Mbakwe Airport.

He emphasized that he was glad to reconnect to his people and our entire supporters.
