Nigerian musician Portable has addressed the recent allegations made by social critic VeryDarkMan, who accused him of ass@ulting a man during the Felabration event, which honours the late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti. In a video shared by VeryDarkMan, Portable was seen hitting a man in a restroom, prompting VDM to express his disgust and caution the musician against such behaviour.
In his response, Portable released a video on his Instagram, asserting his readiness to confront VeryDarkMan directly. “Online madness dey different from real life madness. I go bend you, I go mend you. I go cripple you. I am a one-man battalion. If I hold you… You are using Abuja to threaten me. Go and ask of me in Maraba Nyanya, use Babangida market, go and ask of Lagos boy,” he declared, emphasizing his willingness to settle matters in person.
Portable also provided context for the altercation, claiming that the man he assaulted had previously wronged him. “My fans, you guys should have known the person I was beating. We had a one-on-one fighting, man-to-man. Someone who has collected money for up to five shows and ran away with my money for six months. That man, he collected money for my shows. Are you my manager?” he explained.
Moreover, Portable accused VeryDarkMan of damaging business relationships for himself and other Nigerian entertainers, stating that his actions have hindered opportunities with “the big men that normally give him and other Nigerian entertainers money.”
As discussions around the incident continue, many are watching to see how this controversy will impact Portable’s career and public image.
