One Chelsea Player Extends His Contract By 1 Year

Argentine and Chelsea 38-year-old shot-stopper Willy Caballero has penned down an extension of his contract by a year, he is now committed to the English Premier League club (Chelsea) until the end of next season.

The 38-year-old Argentine Chelsea goalkeeper’s contract is set to be due at the end of next month but he has signed a new contract to remain at the Stamford Bridge until 2021. Willy Caballero made nine appearances in the 2019/20 season before it was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic in March.

Five of the appearance was in February after first-choice keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was dropped by the Blues boss Frank Lampard. Caballero is a popular figure in the Blues dressing room and joins 33-year-old French forward Olivier Giroud in extending his contract with the west London club until 2021 which is 12 months from now.

The futures of Brazilian winger Willian, 31, and 32-year-old Spanish forward Pedro still remain uncertain as the players are yet to sign a new contract with the club. Willy Caballero, who was set to return to limited training at Cobham on Tuesday along with his team-mates, joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2017.
