Ondo Poll: 11 Parties Merge With PDP To Support Jegede

The aspiration of Eitayo Jegede to emerge the Governor of Ondo State has gotten a boost as about eleven political parties merged with the Peoples Democratic Party PDP barely five days to the October 10 governorship poll.

Social Democratic Party (SDP) chairman, Oladele Ogunbameru, who doubles as the spokesperson of the political parties announced this on Monday, October 5, in Akure, the state capital.

According to Ogunbameru, the political parties agreed to merge against the bad government of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu adding that the collaboration is an organised effort to save Ondo state from the loins of bad economic policies and draconian rule of the current government.

A few days to the governorship elections in Ondo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has drummed support for the party’s candidate in Ondo as they also expressed confidence that Eyitayo Jegede will emerge winner of the poll.

Speaking on the forthcoming elections, Chairman of the Forum and Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who spoke through the forum’s Director-General, C.I.D. Maduabum said that the governors under the platform of the PDP were united in ensuring that Jegede becomes the next governor in Ondo ( read more here).

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has expressed confidence that the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC), will win the Ondo governorship election. According to Fayemi, the APC in Ondo State is not facing any challenge like what played out during the Edo governorship election.
