Olubadan Clears Air Over Alleged N50 Million Bribe

The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has distanced himself from the rumours making the rounds that he collected bribes to facilitate the arrest of Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho.

Reacting to the rumour, the media aide of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Mr Adeola Oloko, said the Monarch did not collect 50 million naira to aid the killing or arrest of Igboho, contrary to speculations in some quarters.

Oloko, while addressing some protesters in Ibadan, stated that the Kabiyesi did not collect a dime from the federal government nor anybody. He further described Igboho as a son of Olubadan, adding that the Palace is duty-bound to protect him.

The media aide wondered what the Monarch would do with such an amount of money at 92 years. However, he warned internet users to desist from spreading fake news that could significantly affect innocent people.

According to him, the Monarch has vowed to summon a meeting of the stakeholders to address the requests made by the protesters. The protesters had, during the rally, kicked against the harassment of Igboho.

He urged the youths to operate within the ambit of the law to prevent anarchy in the State. EveryEvery.ng gathered that there are speculations that the Olubadan collected N50 million from the Federal Government to aid the arrest of Sunday Igboho.
