Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, has just been announced winner of the Vice Presidential Aspirant to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, sidelining the likes of Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State Governor, among other contenders.
However, this was the late-minute decision of the Presidential Candidate of the party, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who made the announcement during a meeting graced by PDP executives at the Headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
It was learnt that the Party Chairman, Iyochia Ayu, initially revealed that a seventeen-man-committee was commissioned to select three prospective candidates and submit the options the their flag bearer for consideration, after which he picked Governor Okowa as the best choice.
He hinted that it was a painstaking process to conclude on the best candidate for the job, stating that some of the criteria considered was an aspirant that understands the challenges in the country and can also proffer solution.
