Okada Ban in Lagos: Move for Enforcement Squad in Motion

On the Okada Ban in Lagos State, the government has put in motion an Anti-Okada Enforcement Squad to carry out the restrictions of motorcyclists’ activities in areas they’ve been prohibited to operate.

This move is coming following the plan to commence full stoppage of bike riders operations ahead of the June 1, 2022 implementation of the Okada ban in Lagos regarding commercial motorcyclists activities.

The Lagos State Government has already concluded arrangement to inaugurate the Anti-Okada Squad for carrying out the required duty, as the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who earlier announced the planned ban on activities of Okada in 6 Local Government Areas and nine Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs, two weeks ago, had insisted on enforcement on the set date.

However, earlier in the month, the leadership of the Okada union made a plea for the state government to extend the ban period for proper plans to be made so the riders could seek out new environment for their operations in the state and Nigeria at large.
