Chairman of the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission ODIEC, Professor Yomi Dinakin has announced that the All Progressives Congress, APC recorded a landslide victory during the Ondo council poll held on Saturday, August 22.
Dinakin, who announced the results at the commission’s head office in Akure the state capital stated that there were no elections in five councils out of the 18 local government areas in the state.
According to him, the five local councils where elections didn’t hold are Akoko North-East, Ose, Ifedore, Odigbo and Irele.
The thirteen Local government areas where elections were held are Ese Odo, Akoko South-West, Akure South, Ilaje, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo, Okitipupa, Ondo West, Owo, Akoko North West, Akoko South-West, Idanre, Ondo East and Akure North
It was gathered that only the APC fielded candidates in the local governments and also won 194 councillorship seats out of 198, while the results in the four remaining wards were declared inconclusive.
Meanwhile, Ten political parties including the ruling APC participated in the election.
Channels Television reported that the Peoples Democratic Party and the Zenith Labour Party boycotted the Ondo council poll.
