Oby Ezekwesili Warns Nigerian Youths Against Divide-And-Rule Tactics

A former Minister of Education in Nigeria, Oby Ezekwesili has on Monday advised Nigerian youths not to allow themselves to be distracted by divide-and-rule tactics amid the #EndSARS protests across the country.

Ezekwesili, who is also the convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Group, BBOG in a tweet noted that the divide-and-rule tactics are what past leaders have employed as a tool for distracting those who demanded that things should be done differently in the past.

According to her, the tactics was why her generation to work together. She advised the Nigerian youths not to fall for such tactics but rather set their eyes on the vision to put an end to police brutality. in an earlier tweet, the former Minister had reiterated that the youths should not be distracted but rather remember that the blood of the dead is crying.

You will recall that the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila had on Sunday had a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the issue of the #EndSARS protests and the way forward.

Everyevery.ng reported that Lawan said the government has heard and accepted their genuine demands and working to address all of them. Meanwhile, he added that the government needs to have time to implement the demands of the protesters noting that the Nigerian economy will be affected if the protests continue.

Lawan, who opined that the protests have yielded some results referring to the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS said the highlight of the protests has been addressed when President Buhari ordered the Inspector-General of Police to dissolve SARS.

According to him, other Nigerians have the right to go about their daily businesses, hence, the need for #EndSARS protesters to put an end to their protests across the country to avoid a degeneration of the protests.
