Following his re-election during the Saturday, September 19 governorship elections in Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has showered encomium on President Muhammadu Buhari.
During an interview after he was declared the winner of the elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Obaseki commended President Buhari’s neutrality.
Obaseki also revealed that before the polls, the President has issued a strict warning that all party candidates that will be taking part in the elections must get a level playing field.
He added that the president ordered the electoral body and the Inspector-General of Police to do their work accordingly.
However, Obaseki has advised the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to join him in moving the state forward.
You will recall that the INEC on Sunday, September 20 declared Godwin Obaseki winner of the elections after he was said to have garnered 307,955 votes and won 13 out of the 18 local government areas in Edo state.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians have commended the voting process noting that the people of Edo State made their choice with their votes.
Also, Everyevery.ng had reported that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Lagos State Chapter has renewed its commitment to put an end to godfatherism in the state. Reacting to Obaseki’s victory, the party said it was inspired to put an end to politics of selection by godfathers in Lagos state.
