Oba of Benin Signs Deed of Transfer for Return of Ancient Artefacts

At the 5th Coronation Anniversary of the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, the event witnessed the signing of the Deed of Transfer, marking the return of looted Benin Artefacts to the ancient kingdom.

His royal majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, of the Royal Palace of Benin kingdom, welcomed the Federal Government’s Delegates among other dignitaries from different parts of the country to witness the impeccable occasion.

While delivering his speech, his royal majesty pointed out the numerous benefits that would be attracted to the state because of the singular gesture by the foreign counterparts that resolved to return the ancient Benin treasures.

He pointed out that aside from tourism, the people of EdoState and other residents in various parts of the country can use the artefacts for educational purposes, research and analysis, historical records, and other objectives.

He said he’d build a Benin Royal Museum as soon as possible, to have the people of Edo State and tourists from far and wide visit to learn more about the ancient land.

While commissioning the project at the occasion, the Oba thanked all involved parties that were instrumental to the recovery of the looted artefacts and thanked President Muhammadu Buhari especially for assenting to send the treasures back to where they belong.
